Murder of Alistair MacLeod - Easton 2003 Murdered Street Busker Police investigating the murder of a Bristol busker have stepped up their witness appeal. Alistair MacLeod was found in his flat in the Easton area of the city on September 19th 2003. It is thought he had been dead for several days and police have launched a murder investigation. On Saturday, officers were out in force in St Marks Road, Easton, in a bid to find witnesses who may have seen the attack that may have led to Mr MacLeod's death. Officers believe he may have been hurt when a group of young men tried to steal his bike in St Marks Road at about 1845 BST on 13 September. This man died because these people wanted to steal his bike, and that is totally unacceptable Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Spicer stated that a man matching Mr MacLeod's description was knocked to the ground and assaulted by two or three black youths. Despite offers of help from passers-by the man left the scene without receiving medical attention, and before police arrived. Officers believe the victim was Mr MacLeod and are treating his death as a potential murder investigation. A post mortem examination revealed Mr MacLeod died of head injuries. THREE teenagers have been charged with the murder of a busker. The body of Alistair MacLeod, 38, was discovered by his landlady in Bristol a month ago. It is believed he had been dead for several days. A post-mortem revealed he died from a head injury. The suspects, aged 14, 15 and 16, all from Bristol, were arrested last week and charged with murder.
